Your first born is everything. Your mini-me gets all that love and attention without any real competition (except maybe from the dog). But then, your only child becomes a big sibling. As excited as you are to grow your family, you wonder how your kid will be with their new brother/sister. You can’t help but feel guilty knowing that all that time you spent with them will soon be limited with the arrival of a new baby. Despite these worries, the second child is on its way and your first born will be an influence in their little sibling’s life, whether they want one or not.

Patti’s New Year’s Resolutions: 2022

The end of 2021 had a very different vibe for me compared to previous years. We planned a special trip to London for this Christmas and as always, there were last-minute complications and unforeseen events. By the time we made it to Heathrow and back, Troy and I were in unprecedented levels of parental burnout (which will be shared in a later post).
So that state of mental and physical exhaustion is the context going into this year and this resolution post. But it does have a silver lining, don’t worry.

As Child(ish) Advice completes another trip around the sun, I want to say thank you for all your continued trust and support as we continue to provide content, tips, and activities for kids and parents.
This past year has been a fun and welcomed challenge, filled with TikTok videos, research, and continuing education courses, on top of raising three kids under five. And with the arrival of 2022, I’m looking forward to growing personally and professionally. Here are my New Year’s Resolutions for this year:

As much as you try to avoid it, there’s a big cheery man in a red suit around every corner. You can’t escape him. Eventually, our kids are going to ask about him, like who he is, how he can be breaking and entering without getting arrested, or how is it possible to deliver all these presents in one night?
And the biggest question of all: “Is Santa real?”.
